Hey friends!
I'm Lauren, the creator of Sews and Seeds, and I'm so excited to share the things I love with you all! To give a small bit of what this site is all about, I'll start by sharing how I got started with blogging. So I decided in 2015 I wanted to start a blog to share my life and ideas through channeling my love for writing and making creative, visual content. Then in 2016, in God's pursuit for my life, I came to know Jesus Christ as my lord and savior and realized the great need for others to hear the gospel! Because of this miracle, I decided my blog would be used as a way to share my life as a Christ follower and to give Him the glory for all the exciting, creative things I post in hopes of inspiring and encouraging you!
Some basic info: I am 22 years old and currently studying media advertising at IU while working at a local tea shop and blogging in my down time. Also I am recently married to my best friend and high school sweetheart, Drew!
My loves: I love golden retrievers and I happen to live with two very cute ones (Brinkley and Amie) who may appear in my posts from time to time. I enjoy spending time with my sweet friends and family. I love ice cream and donuts (most food really - ya girl likes to eat). The best place I've visited is Italy, I loved the culture! My favorite verse is Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ our lord." I love going hiking and backpacking when I have great people to share the experience with. Some of my favorite bloggers are: Amber Fillerup Clark of Barefoot Blonde, Naomi Davis of Love Taza, Kathleen Post of Lemon Blonde, Casey Leigh Wiegand of The Wiegands.
Why Sews and Seeds? This blog consists of many things but I focus on creating content about clothes, food and travel. The word Sews is to describe clothes or style that I post about, while seeds is to describe food, and sometimes travel or the places I plant my feet. As for the second and more important reason I chose this blog name, it relates to my purpose as a Christian. Matthew 13:23 says, "And the one on whom seed was sown on the good soil, this is the man who hears the word and understands it; who indeed bears fruit and brings forth, some a hundredfold, some sixty, and some thirty." The Lord calls His followers to be rooted in good soil, in other words steadfast in Him. As a follower of Christ I have a purpose to share the good news of His saving grace, and because of this God can use me to bear fruit through my labor for His kingdom. Also Matthew 9:37 , "Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few." Jesus tells His disciples that there are many people who need to hear the gospel but there are few people willing to labor or share it. To be fruitful and plant seeds about Jesus in the lives of others, I will share my faith through my blog and my life in general. I invite you to keep me accountable to this!
My goal is to be honest and open in my blog because I think media can make life seem perfect or give unrealistic expectations. So, fair warning: My life is messy and not perfect but it's a joyful, adventurous life that is blessed with wonderful people and opportunities for which I am very thankful. I want to share the "have it together" times (few and far between, can I get an amen?) and the messy, overwhelming times. I'll do my very best to stay true to this goal!
Thank you so much for reading and for stopping by my blog! I hope you can be inspired by this little space of my ideas and thoughts. All the best and God bless,
